This report discusses and makes 26 recommendations regarding a statewide system to improve state and local policies related to notification, placement, monitoring and supervision of Sexually Violent Predators.

 

Housing Summit

California Summit for Safe Communities, March 2007 (PDF)

This report chronicles the efforts of more then 350 participants who strategized challenges and solutions to the release and placement of High Risk Sex Offenders and Sexually Violent Predators into California communities. The Summit educated the participants on sex offender issues, built collaboration between state and local governments and developed alternative methods for identifying appropriate housing for sex offenders.

This report provides a comprehensive look at the California Sex Offender Management System and examines both adult and juvenile systems. It compares the present system with evidence-based best practices from across the nation. It then identifies strengths and gaps, and makes recommendations to improve the System.

Prison Sex Offender Treatment: Recommendations for Program Implementation, July 2007 (prepared by Kim English, Phd. and Peggy Heil) - (PDF)

This report contains an evidence-based model for an in-custody prison sex offender treatment program that could be utilized by CDCR. It looks at prison treatment programs utilized in other states and examines some of the problems unique to California. A 500 bed multi-level program is utilized for the purpose of demonstrating the costs associated with implementing this model.
